Thesis Statement
The Articles of Confederation were too weak of a document to Govern the United States as a nation, this led to congress taking action and writing the United States of America Constitution.
IntroThe formation of the constitution came about because of the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation. The founding fathers realized that something must be done to revise the Articles of Confederation. "The Federal Convention convened in the State House (Independence Hall) in Philadelphia on May 14, 1787, to revise the Articles of Confederation. Because the delegations from only two states were at first present, the members adjourned from day to day until a quorum of seven states was obtained on May 25"(National Archives and Records ). Shortly After Congress realized that it would become necessary for them to discard the Articles of Confederation and adopt a new document that would layout the government for the young nation. The keystone ideas discussed by congress in the summer of 1787 were: the amount of power to give to the central Government, whether or not to include an executive branch, how many congressmen the government would involve and

The exploration of a new Government.
The United States' founding fathers were faced with major decisions and compromises while writing the constitution. In order to create a fair system in which all were given representation, but was also able to run efficiently on a national level. A government of this kind had never been done before. The nation was suffering disunity from the weak national government, but also did not want another tyrannical congress or monarchy. They developed the constitution and fixed the problems with the Articles of Confederation. Another thing the Constitutional Convention discussed was the exchanges between states. Each state had a separate currency and this created confusion among merchants and travelers. Also many states held land and money disputes. The constitution divided the power between a federal government able to mediate between states and the states themselves.
